Overview

The Kyron is SsangYong’s smaller 4×4, sitting below the Rexton in the range. Slightly bigger than Land Rover Freelander, it is a practical off roader that’s good value for money. Available with two or four-wheel drive, it’s well equipped and very competitively priced even when compared against other value brand 4x4s such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

It’s also a competent performer and impressive on rough terrain. However, while it’s a good workhorse, it lacks refinement and the diesel engines are noisy. It’s also unimpressive on the road, hampered by a bouncy ride and body roll in corners. Add to that some poor quality interior plastics and the Kyron trails being other 4x4s. However, one big selling point is that from April 2009, all cars come with a five year/250,000 mile warranty as standard.
