Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 29 - 37 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Fuel economy is good for a car of this class (pick the manual gearbox if you need the best economy). This car has a diesel engine which is sought-after and compact off-roaders are popular too, but the SsangYong’s relatively unknown status means it won’t keep its value as well as others of its type. Dealer numbers are still quite limited, so you may have a bit of a trip to get there.

The Kyron is quite a polluting model. With an average of 207g/km CO2 across the range, its emissions are quite high for a small 4×4.

Most of the engine components are built in the same factory that makes Mercedes engines and so should prove reliable. In 2009 SsangYong improved its warranty to five years/250,000
