  • DDiS diesel is the cheapest to run
  • Best economy claim is 50.1mpg
  • Newer Boosterjet engines also economical

With one engine and gearbox choice the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross range is easy to navigate when it comes to running costs:

  • 1.4 Boosterjet 2WD: 50.1mpg, 127g/km of CO2
  • 1.4 Boosterjet AllGrip AWD: 45.7mpg, 139g/km of CO2

Engines previously available

Before 2020 you could pick a diesel S-Cross, or a petrol powered one without any of the 48v mild-hybrid tech now awailable.

These were tested using the NEDC rather than WLTP test, so the economy figures look better on paper, but the more modern test is said to be closer to what you can expect in reality.

Unsurprisingly, the lowest Suzuki SX4 S-Cross running costs were from the DDiS diesel engine. Optimum costs come in two-wheel drive configuration, which means claimed average fuel economy of 68.8mpg and 106g/km of CO2.

Going for a four-wheel drive AllGrip diesel will net you claimed combined fuel economy of 64.2mpg and 114g/km of CO2.

Reliability

  • Exemplary reliability record
  • No VOSA recalls announced
  • Car feels solid and built to last

There’s little to worry you regarding Suzuki SX4 S-Cross reliability. In fact, the firm enjoys a strong reputation for building well-made and resilient cars.

In fact, the last SX4 only had one extremely minor VOSA vehicle inspectorate recall affecting a handful of cars, and that’s very unusual indeed for a mainstream car, while this generation hasn’t been subjected to a single one.

There’s only one engine and it’s used across the Suzuki range, and the AllGrip tech is tried and tested too.
