In their own words

Went for a test drive in the Model S and knew I wanted one straight away. Its quiet and fast and practical. My criteria for a new car was - 1. I can fit in it (6ft 6ins) 2. eco friendly, 3. Big enough to carry a regular large load, 4. Enough range to do a frequent 200mile round trip. It was the only car that fitted the bill out of hybrids, electric and eco-petrol. It does 0-60 in 4 seconds which is plenty for me and even at 70 it has plenty of pull if needed. This week I did my 200 mile trip (motorway with cruise set at 70mph-ish!). Charged it to full - the gauge said 280 mile typical range. Drove the 200 miles and it had 60 left when I got home. I always allow 10% on the 'fuel' gauge and have never worried about running out of juice after the first few long journeys. Lots more 'superchargers' seem to be springing up that will charge it in 30 mins so even less range worries. It has autopilot version 1. This makes a motorway or 'A' road drive very relaxing. It sticks in its lane very well and keeps up / slows down smoothly. In stop start traffic jams its a little bit more jerky than if I did it myself, but easier. Running costs and maintenance costs are minimal. My fuel cost for the 200 miles was about £5 electricity (can be cheaper using economy 7). So, what about the drawbacks? Only one really - Its hugely expensive to buy! (Last new car was a Ford Focus) and perhaps a bit wide (but you get used to that).
