What does this car say about you?

She's very bossy! Shouts out orders and shows me a road map which way to go when i get lost. Other than that she doesn't talk much (warns/traffic avoidance - very useful) and certainly says nothing personal (to my face anyway).

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    They love it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. It's tough and reliable. It helps me in my business and then changes from its work clothes to a suit and takes care of my family's needs in the evenings and w/ends.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Same car.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    September 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes. A lot of car for the money.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Workhorse for my business and a comfortable family transporter. Does the job of 2 cars and thus the environmental brigade won't have any cause to complain. A car that really does it all.

    What was the dealer like?

Bought unseen, transferred funds, flew down to London and salesperson picked me up from the airport. At the dealership looked the car over (salesperson had described the car accurately over the phone). Sorted out the paperwork, and was driving it home 30 mins later! Couldn't have been easier.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Reasonably fast and sure footed (full-time 4x4). Take it out on the twisties though and it'll remind you it weighs 2.6+ tonnes at a high CofG as it wallows from side to side. Reasonable handling, brakes and poise for a behemoth (it doesn't pretend to be a X5). The 4.5L V8 diesel engine is a true technological masterpiece; won't be surprised to see it in a future Lexus LS diesel version (yes it's that good!).

    What's it like to park?

The wife struggles, but then she finds it hard to park her little supermini too. For us boys no probs at all! Though it requires a little time and patience to look for a parking space big enough to accommodate this well proportioned car.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing. That's why people buy a Toyota.

What's most practical about your car?

Serves the duel purpose of a work tool during the week and takes all the family out at the w/ends in comfort. Gets me to my work whatever the weather (and this winter it coped superbly). Tows 3.5t without breaking sweat, easy as pie. Want to pose? Buy a X5/Q7/ML. Want your 4x4 to spend more time in the workshop than on the road? Buy a LR Disco4/RR. But if you want a car that just keeps going whatever you throw at it and does it all in supreme comfort buy a LC V8.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Memory seats, 4 people drive this car and the 3 preset seat positions make it easy to just jump in and go. Reverse camera: the thing's huge! Ipod controlled through buttons on steering + songs displayed on screen. 4 heated leather seats - aaaaagh. Bluetooth phone connectivity, knows who's in the car and connects automatically- simple and easy (the way it should be).
