What are the new vans coming soon to the UK? Here’s our list all the new van models set to go on sale in 2023 and beyond.

All the vans listed here are powered by conventional petrol or diesel engines. We have a separate page dedicated to the new electric vans coming soon if you’re looking for details of on those.

Don’t forget, you can also find new vans and used vans for sale via Parkers as well, as well as info about pickups coming soon, the electric pickups that might or might not be on their way to the UK.

What are the new vans coming soon to the UK?

The small-van sector has been rejuvenated of late, with the new Renault Kangoo, Mercedes-Benz Citan and Nissan Townstar all now launched in both electric and conventional formats. However, there are more versions due for these vans, with long-wheelbase models and crew vans in the pipeline.

Ford is also set to launch a replacement for its popular Transit Connect, and the new model is set to be based on the latest Caddy as first fruits of ‘Project Cyclone’, the new alliance between Ford and VW to share development and manufacturing costs. The passenger version – the Ford Tourneo Connect – has already been released, but we are still waiting for the commercial vehicle equivalent as it was delayed slightly. Expect that in 2024.

The smaller model, the Ford Transit Courier, is due soon, though. The petrol and diesel versions are due before the end of 2023, but the electric model is not coming until later in 2024.

Fans of medium vans have some good news coming too. The biggest name in that sector – the Ford Transit Custom – is has now been revealed and . That aforementioned Ford / VW partnership means that this is also set to form the basis of the next VW Transporter, too.

The ageing Stellantis group large vans – the Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano – are set to continue for a while yet, but with yet another facelift, which applies across the whole Stellantis van range. Given Fiat is now part of the same group this means that the next Ducato is part of the line up too, while Toyota has confirmed that it will also launch its first large van using the same platform. 2024 is the latest date for these vans to arrive.

These are the new vans we’re expecting in 2023 and beyond.

2023 Dacia Duster Commercial

A cheap 4×4 commercial vehicle

The update for the Dacia Duster Commercial was announced in late 2021 but the new model is taking its time to get to us, to the extent that it can still be classed as ‘coming soon.’ Buyers will finally get their vehicles in early 2023.

It is the perfect budget option for those who think the Land Rover Defender Hard Top seems a bit expensive. The commercial 4×4 is a lightly converted version of the Dacia Duster SUV.

Priced from under £12k, the Duster is a similar concept to the Defender, but without the fancy styling and lacking in some (well, most) of the off-road capability. The entry-level model doesn’t even have four-wheel drive.

Ford Transit Courier

Ford’s smallest van, totally revamped

The Ford Transit Courier is the latest Ford to get an all-new version, meaning that the brand will have one of the most up-to-date ranges out there by the time it arrives in late 2023.

All the noise around the announcement concerned the electric model, but it will also launch with a 1.0-litre 125hp Ecoboost petrol and a 1.5-litre 100hp Ecoblue diesel. For the time being, expect these to make up the lion’s share of sales.

The prospects are good for the Courier, though – it is bigger inside to the extent that it can now take two Euro pallets, and it has a notably higher payload than the outgoing model, with it able to take up to 845kg.

2023 Ford Transit Custom

The nation’s favourite, with some clever new tricks

Ford E-Transit Custom 2023 coming soon

The new Ford Transit Custom is a phenomenally important van, both for Ford and for its many buyers – it remains the UK’s most popular van.

The next generation will take what the outgoing version offered and build on it, to a huge degree. Ford will offer it in pretty much every guise possible. It will have diesel, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions to choose from.

The engines are the same 2.0-litre units from the outgoing van, and will come in 110hp, 136hp, 150hp and 170hp power outputs. The plug-in hybrid, however, will feature the same powertrain as the Ford Kuga passenger car. This means a 2.5-litre petrol engine and a 11.8kWh battery – quite the step up from the 1.0-litre petrol that the current PHEV gets.

There are some clever tricks inside, too – a steering wheel that can double as a desk and a walk-through cabin to name but two.

Crucially, this van will also form the basis of the next Volkswagen Transporter, and both vans will be built at Ford’s facility in Turkey.

2023 Volkswagen Transporter

The other side to the Transit Custom’s coin

There is little information out there about the next VW Transporter but the initial announcements about the 2024 Ford Transit Custom means we can make some guesses, given the two will have been developed as part of the same partnership.

As the new Transit Custom is capable of being powered by electric motor, diesel engine and plug-in and mild hybrids there is every chance that the Transporter could offer similar. This is all supposition at this stage, though.

2024 Renault Master

The long-awaited replacement for an aged van

The 2024 Renault Master is a van that will be welcomed by many. The current model is still performing well in the sales charts but it is really feeling its age now. Given it has been on sale since 2010 this is no surprise.

We don’t know vast amounts about the next generation yet, but the prototype testing suggests a front end that will be along the same lines of the recently launched Kangoo. Our spies also suggest that a new large screen should feature on the inside, while we’re expecting multiple lengths and heights.

We’ll know more before the end of 2023, as Renault is planning an event on 20 November.

2024 Citroen Relay / Peugeot Boxer / Fiat Ducato / Vauxhall Movano / Toyota large van

Another update for the oldest vans in town

The long-in-the-tooth Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano are all due replacement, but we still have a while to wait before a new generation arrives.

Instead, Stellantis has gone down the line of updating the trio and bringing the Fiat Ducato closer into line. If they are still selling, then why not?

Toyota confirmed in 2022 that it will also join the other brands in offering a large van from 2024. More information on this plan is expected in November –
