The cabin of the Crossland X is impressively large considering its compact dimensions. While the middle rear seat isn’t going to be the comfiest place to sit for long journeys, the two outer rear seats offer lots of headroom and knee space for adults. It’ll seat four in comfort.

You’ll find a pair of cupholders in the front along with an average-sized glovebox and door bins that can store a bottle of soft drink.

Will my family and luggage fit in it?

The Crossland X doesn’t have a big footprint at all, and should easily fit into most garages and parking spaces nationwide. Its high driving position and large area of glass mean the driver has great visibility for parking. A rear-view camera and associated parking sensors are an optional extra worth specifying if this is an issue.

The Vauxhall Crossland X is a surprisingly practical car considering its small footprint. Its 410-litre boot space is as big as far larger vehicles. We were particularly impressed with the size and shape of the boot opening coupled with the low loading lip, meaning it’ll be simple to lift heavy objects in there. The floor has an admirable amount of surface area too, and a maximum width of one metre.

There’s a false floor in there to stow smaller items, while buyers are also able to pay extra to have sliding rear seats that liberate 520 litres of room. The seats also fold down flat in a 60:40 split in order to load longer items and there are hooks on either side to hitch your shopping bags to.

The Vauxhall Crossland X’s array of safety equipment is vast considering its price, helping this SUV achieve a five-star crash-test rating from Euro NCAP when it was sampled (in an admittedly less rigorous test) at the end of 2017.
