• Summary

What does this car say about you?

That I'm not a car enthusiast in any sense of the word.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

The back hinged doors confuse people, as most cars people slide across then get out towards the rear of the car. Getting out of the back seats in the Meriva is a bit like getting out of a London black cab.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, but with a larger engine.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not sure. Depends on what's available and the price.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    June 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

We bought two cars at the same time. There was a £500 "free" fuel card offer on and also got the cleaning kit (which has been very useful). We were after a car with good fuel economy.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Liked the look of the car.

    What was the dealer like?

    Stereotype car salesman.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's a bit underpowered. In hindsight(!) we should have gone for at least a 1.6 engine. However it's more than ok for a flat terrain, but struggles on hilly areas, although once it gets going it's fine.

    What's it like to park?

Fine. The electronic handbrake is of great use if parking in a tight space on a hill.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    No, it's been serviced regularly.

What's most practical about your car?

I like the slightly high driving position.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The electronic handbrake, makes hill starts so easy. Parallel parking on an incline is very easy also.
