• Summary

What does this car say about you?

I like cars and ones that involve the driver. Many so called sports cars don't feel sporty and are rather detached.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. It has been very reliable despite the odd problem. It is British made by Lotus/Vauxhall so parts are easy to source. Generally the Lotus parts are cheaper than the Vauxhall part!

What are you likely to buy next?

I fancy a Lotus Evora but they are do cost a lot.

    £20,000

    February 2005

Private seller who lived in London and suddenly found out he needed a bigger car for a growing family. Only had 2,000 on the clock and was less than a year old.

It was a British sport car with performance to match that of anything else at a price that couldn't be beaten.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

In the true tradition of a British sports car it is fun and very involving. Unlike many sports cars it will actually perform. There are not too many out there with this kind of performance especially when you consider that it will still do 37mpg!

    What's it like to park?

Awkward. Rear visibiity is poor and no power steering. It is not what you would call a town car. It is first and foremost a drivers car.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

After doing over a 160,000 miles in it I have had the odd problem with it. However, overall it has been fantastic. It never fails to put a smile on your face and if you have a problem you can usually find the solution on VX220.org web site.

What's most practical about your car?

Practical? This is supposed to be jsut a weeend car. However I use it all the time as my only car, hence the mileage! Getting in and out is an issue for some but you get use to it. Once in it is brilliant you feel every bump but you know exactly what the car is doing. The boot is quite big for such a car and it is amazing what you can cram into it.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

To kep things light there is not much. It has a heater which has been modified so it will heat the car. Wind up windows, no AC and no power steering.
