Zafira is a wanted vehicle and this strong demand keeps residuals up. The Astra-based mechanicals are affordable and easy to maintain, plus fuel economy is good for all engines. The frugal diesel 2.0-litre DTi achieves 44mpg, which is impressive for a seven-seater. Insurance groups are average for the class, with the exception of the GSi, beginning at group 5 for the 1.6-litre.

Thankfully, there haven’t been any major problems reported by Parker’s users. Buyers should check for a few minor problems - such as trim issues, excessive oil consumption and notchy gearboxes - before purchasing, but otherwise it is very durable.

Car checklist problem points

Engine / gearbox Notchy gearboxes and engines that use a little too much oil are common.
