• Summary

    1 out of 5 1.0

What does this car say about you?

That you have one because you NEED one, rather than because you want one... As long as your car doesn't have the issues I've encountered, I'd recommend it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Really appreciate its flexibility for carrying passengers and/or luggage Gobsmacked and amused by the issues I've had with this particular 'Friday afternoon car' and the main dealers inability / refusal to acknowledge or repair the faults.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No Too many major issues which the dealer waved away with 'we can't find anything wrong' I love the concept but the application is poor. As James May said 'It's like having the recipe for the best steak pie...and then using dog meat' The main dealer service department at my dealer is awful (the receptionist are wonderful though!).

What are you likely to buy next?

Skoda Octavia SE L 2.0 PDI DSG estate; ordering it tomorrow.

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    June 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

    Motability, so yes.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Previously owned an insignia SRi 165 cdti and wanted the extra space / versatility of the Zafira Tourer, plus now needed an auto.

    What was the dealer like?

Bristol Street Chesterfield Motability specialist sales person? 10/10 Dealer themselves 1/10 Bristol Street Chesterfield Vauxhall have one of, if not THE best sales people around, and was one of he reasons I returned. The dealership needs to take a look at themselves, the Service Manager is particularly awful, terrible attitude and seemingly unable to find 3 major faults with my new car As a result, the car had been REJECTED after only 6mths and I'm now ordering a Skoda.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very good for a mid-sized MPV Handling excellent due to SRi sports suspension and seats (very comfortable) Visibility excellent, allowing good progress. Engine powerful and flexible but awful fuel consumption (I drive like in the film 'Driving Miss Daisy' and have only got 36mpg - dreadful) Poor headlights at night, inadequate illumination (Vauxhall would want you to have Xenons I'd suggest).

    What's it like to park?

Very easy, parking sensors front & rear) I had a Peugeot 3008 whilst mine was in (again!) at the dealers, and that had a reversing camera which was excellent and would be useful on a Zafira.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Lots. Continual tracking issue, car pulling strongly to the left. Auto gearbox with, intermittantly, a mind of its own. Vehicle going, intermittently, into limp mode (nearly got crushed by a speeding lorry at the local motorway roundabout as I was unable to accelerate) Truly awful fuel consumption (36 mpg despite driving like Morgan Freeman in 'Driving Miss Daisy').

What's most practical about your car?

Excellent seating configuration with the ability to carry extra passengers or luggage. Elevated seating position is excellent for younger children.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Ordered as a standard 2.0 cdti SRi auto with no extras. A shame it has air con instead of climate, and doesn't have auto lights or wipers.
