Value
Far too expensive for what it is. It's a VW not a Mercedes!

Not the best MPG. Long service times.

Better to drive than previous Golfs.
Performance
Slightly better than a bus. Not the sharpest performer, possibly due to weight / underpowered engine.

Reliability
This is where the story fades - steering grates loudly when turning left. Diagnosed a faulty steering rack. Still not fixed 6 months later. Neither dealer or VW seem to give a damn.

No dodgy legs or back as yet, but still trying!

Hasn't been pinched yet. As good as any other car if you chuck a brick through the glass!
Service
Generally, after owning 4 Golfs I can say the level of service I have received is pretty bad. Had cars damaged by careless mechanics, substandard work, general cock ups causing me to break down.

Tappet noise when starting in cold weather.

Why has VW downgraded it's plastics to 'airfix' quality? Poor attempt to save money and it shows. Not the best way of retaining past glory.
