Volkswagen has given the interior of the seventh-generation Passat a refresh and it is identical to that of the new saloon. The dash has been revised with new dials, trim finishes and an analogue clock. These revisions are joined by subtle chrome inserts and the option of ambience lighting similar to that found in the Phaeton. The centre console has also been uprated with revisions to the minor controls as well as new door trims.

Jump inside the Passat and you’ll find that it is a refined and comfy place to be. VW has updated the seating giving improved lumbar and side support while there’s a good driving position. There is plenty of adjustment on the front seats and the steering-wheel comes with rake-and-reach adjustment, making driving the VW Passat Estate comfort level very high.

There is plenty of interior space for four adults – the middle rear seat is only really big enough for a child. The seventh generation Passat is quieter and has a smoother ride than the previous model making it perfect for long haul driving.
