  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

The good thing about this car is that it is so understated. The subtle design touches of the GTI gives it an air of unassuming class not present on the "boy racer" targeted hot hatches. You can have fun when you want without having to shout about it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very impressed with the performance and looks. You don't see many about so everyone tends to assume it is a more expensive car like a Golf GTI and can't believe it when told it is a Polo. Couple of requests about how much it cost, etc from those now thinking of getting one(!).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, it is a fantastic car to drive, run and spend time in. High performance, classy GTI touches and everyday practicality in one good looking package.

What are you likely to buy next?

No plans at present. Very happy with the Polo GTI!

    £18,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes. Price matched with other dealers and included finance and servicing discounts.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Looking for a new car that could be fun on the weekends and still reliable and practical as an every day motor.

    What was the dealer like?

Excellent to deal with. Very little hard sell (other than the usual gap insurance and widget undercoating protection blah blah!).

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fantastic. Incredible acceleration whilst always feeling that the power is under control. Solid steering gives confidence to be a little heavy with the gas(!). Suspension is a bit firm but still a remarkably well behaved daily drive (the DSG gearbox is a god send in traffic!).

    What's it like to park?

No problems. Parking sensors as standard and no obvious blind spots (watch those polished alloys on any kerbs though!).

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. Not had it long but it's been a joy so far.

What's most practical about your car?

The Polo has grown to almost the size of the Golf a few models ago. This means that it hits the hatchback sweet spot whereby in can be nippy in city traffic whilst still a good size, especially in 5dr form, for passengers in the back.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Being a GTI you really have to go for the xenon lights however my favourite option was the electronic sunroof. Totally transforms driving the car on a sunny day. Definitely recommend paying the extra.
