What does this car say about you?

Probably not a lot. It's a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing so unless you rouse the driver into opening up that 20v Turbo, they'd pretty much go unnoticed.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They all seem to like it. There are those who like it because it shows a level of responsibility and then those who like it because they know what its capable of. Either way, everyone seems impressed.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not this particular age of model, but I'd certainly buy a newer V70 and quite possibly another T5!!

What are you likely to buy next?

Not sure yet....As my three kids get older the need for an MPV is approaching and unfortunately Volvo don't do one.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,250

When did you buy the car?

    May 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes. Paid £1200 cash from a private seller. He paid £2200 8 months previous from a dealer (with invoice to prove). Car came with several months tax and test and a full service history (part Volvo)!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted a value for money family estate for less than £1500.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

The ride is a little rigid for a family estate to be honest, but then thats widely known. Other than that it's confident and relaxing and because it's a T5, it has Blistering pace. When you first bury your foot to the floor in one of these, you'll have to remind yourself that you're in a family car that weighs 1 and half tons!!! Seriously....these are BONKERS FAST!!!!

    What's it like to park?

Good all round visibility makes for a generally good drive and parking is no different. The bonnet can be deceiving but you get used to it in time.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Failed MOT on Headlight reflectiveness. Can be expected though at this age. Few minor advisories, but again, its nearly 13 yrs old.

What's most practical about your car?

The back seat space and luggage area. It's cavernous. The boot also has two handy cubby holes built into the floor.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Because it's the standard T5 it's lacking even the expected mod con of Climate Control/Air Con. Bit disappointing considering its a Volvo.
