In their own words

I wanted a commodious, comfortable load-lugger for camping and the V70 fitted the bill perfectly. I purchased this from an independent Volvo specialist and the car had full Volvo service history. The vertical rear end means it will swallow a washing machine without folding the rear seats and has moveable lashing points in the floor to tie things down. Want even more space and the back seats fold down flat to give 1600 litres in total and the front passenger seat folds forward for longer items. Economy averages around 44mpg in the daily grind, but take it on a motorway journey and at 70 it will get 56mpg with the engine spinning at 1600rpm. It isn't the ultimate driving machine, but offers a different experience, some of the best seats in the business (heated of course), a decent ride quality - even on 18" alloys and that offbeat 5 cylinder growl. I've read somewhere that Volvo intends to concentrate on soft roader/cross overs (call them what you want) in future, so it would appear that the days of the big Volvo estate are numbered. If that is true, it is (in my view) a shame, as the Carly Simon song says nobody does it better.
