Best Product Under £50 | Parkers New Car Awards 2024

Car-based air fresheners are something to which we don’t really give much thought. Designed with a close eye on both luxury and environmentally sustainable, Fumebar styles itself as a refillable car perfume, offering better scents and quality than its cardboard competition, all without creating any landfill.

Air fresheners are often afterthoughts, introduced to mask a bad smell and dangled from the rearview mirror. FUMEBAR turned that on its head with a beautifully manufactured aluminium diffuser that clips to an air vent and houses replaceable sticks that boast complex scents that’ll put new car smell to shame.

There’s a wide selection of scents, our highlights being Black Pepper, Tea and Leather, and Bergamot, Musk & Lavender. The intensity can be adjusted simply by adjusting the diffuser, and we found the sticks would continue to smell beautiful even eight weeks after the first installation.

What we also liked was the genuine commitment to environmental sustainability. There is absolutely no single-use plastic, all packaging is biodegradable and carbon-neutral shipping is included as standard. The used sticks can even be composted when finished.

Autoglym All Purpose Cleaner

RRP £17.24 | VIEW OFFER

All purpose cleaners (APC) are a versatile way of cleaning almost any surface on a car. The problem is, they’re often sold in massive bottles that need diluting and decanting. Autogylm’s first APC bucked that trend, offering a pre-diluted spray that is designed for beginners.

We found this APC was the ideal dilution ratio for both exterior and interior work, straight from the spray bottle. From removing dead insects to soiled car seats, this spray was powerful but not abrasive, making it a versatile cleaning choice. It even smells quite nice.

Soft99 Glaco Roll-On

A bottle of Glaco on a car's windscreen

RRP £16.99 | VIEW OFFER

Rain repellent can make driving during winter a lot safer. Most work by introducing a clear hydrophobic layer to the glass, which causes rainwater to bead straight off, providing better overall visibility. Of these, Soft99’s option gets our pick, thanks to its value, clever bottle design and overall performance.

Designed originally for Japanese aircraft, Glaco is by far the easiest rain repellent to apply, using a built-in application pad that’ll ensure you get full and even coverage. A simple buff with a cloth was enough to prevent wiper spearing and from that, we registered eight weeks of protection.
