The MAN TGE gets a raft of new technology and safety upgrades as part of its 2024 facelift. The large van will also come with a new Next Level Edition launch model to celebrate the changes.
The MAN TGE is one of the best large vans, and a former Parkers award winner, and the latest changes concentrate on making a more useful and safer vehicle rather than updating the looks. There are 11 new driver assistance systems, taking the total to 27 overall, while there are more airbags on the standard kit list now, too.
There is more equipment in the cabin as well, with a drastically upgraded dashboard and instrument panel. As well as a new digital instrument cluster, it also gets a choice of two large infotainment screens and more functionalisty..
What new technology does the MAN TGE get?
The most noticeable updates for the MAN TGE come in the cabin, where the dashboard has been totally redesigned. There is now a free-standing touchscreen in the centre of the dash, while the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is fully digital on all versions.
That touchscreen comes in a choice two sizes – 10.4-inch or 12.9-inch. The former comes as standard and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which could well be all that most customers need. You can upgrade this system to include navigation, or take another step up to the larger screen with more features.
There are also four USB-C ports for charging devices and transferring data, while you can also add wireless charging as an option for the first time.
A change to the gear-shifter in the automatic model has freed up more space – Drive, Reverse and Park are now selected via a lever on the steering wheel, and there is no lever in its traditional spot. The parking brake is also electronic, leading to the removal of the physical lever next to the driver’s seat.
What safety updates has the 2024 MAN TGE had?
The safety updates in the 2024 MAN TGE relate to both active and passive systems, but not everything is standard on every model.
The active lane guard system, parking assist, fatigue detection, traffic sign information, intelligent speed assist and tyre pressure monitoring system are all now included as standard. Cruise control, speed limiter and emergency brake assist are all part of the basic kit list as well.
Blind spot warning and drive off warning systems, which interject if the van thinks you are going to collide with a car or bike, are both standard but only on the heavy-duty N2 versions – they are optional on N1 light commercials. Turn assist, which interjects when there is a danger of pulling out in front of oncoming traffic, is also an option, as is cruise assist plus. The parking assist system has been tweaked too.
On a more physical basis, the N1 models now get a passenger airbag as standard too, along with an accident recording system.
What engines does the 2024 MAN TGE come with?
The engine range in the TGE remains largely unchanged, but has been trimmed slightly – the lowest-powered 102hp model has been ditched due to a lack of demand.
There is also a new TGE Next Level Edition that has been launched a part of the update, with a selection of visual details. It comes in a ‘Pale Copper Metallic’ paint, has black mirror covers, silver trim on the front bumper, a ‘Next’ badge on the grille and 17-inch alloy wheels in silver or in black as an option.
When can I buy a 2024 MAN TGE?
Production has already switched over to the new TGE so orders placed now will get the upgrades.
