Audi’s Q5 SUV has been updated for 2020. This big-selling SUV faces off against the likes of the BMW X3, Jaguar F-Pace and Mercedes GLC and arrives with changes to the engine range and trim structure.
What engines will it have?
Just two engines are confirmed for launch, but more will follow. A 204hp 2.0-litre diesel (badged 40 TDI) and a 265hp 2.0-litre petrol (badged 45 TFSI) are your only choices so far. Both engine variants come with quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
All engines from launch now have mild hybrid technology as standard to help increase fuel economy, with four-cylinder versions getting a 12V system and a six-cylinder version (expected later in 2020) benefiting from a 48V system. A revised TFSI e plug-in hybrid and a warm, diesel-powered SQ5 arrive later in the year.

What’s new inside?
The Q5 is the most recent Audi to receive the firm’s latest MMI infotainment system. This does without a click wheel on the centre console. Instead, the 10.1-inch touchscreen is your central command unit with nav and digital radio included as standard. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus is included as standard, too.
Audi has also tweaked the lighting systems, with revised matrix LED headlights and optional OLED lighting for the rear. Those OLED rear lights change daytime running signature depending on the drive mode, and glow automatically when the car is at a standstill if the car behind gets too close.
The trim levels are Sport, S Line, Edition 1 (for a limited period) and Vorsprung. Top-shelf Vorsprung versions have adaptive air suspension instead of steel springs with adaptive dampers.
How practical is it?
Audi says that interior space remains the same, with roomy rear seats and a 550-litre boot as standard. You can specify a sliding rear bench to further improve rear space.

What this means for you
You can order your 2020 Q5 from July 2020, with the first deliveries coming in September 2020. The list price starts at £42,950 for a 40 TDI Sport.
The Q5 is a popular premium SUV – customers love its premium interior and powerful engine range – and this facelift is unlikely to change that. We’ll look forward to seeing the difference these changes make when we drive the facelifted Q5.
