Making its debut in the mid-sized CR-V range, the first ever hybrid SUV from Honda is due to arrive in UK dealerships in February 2019.
Powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine and two electric motors, the CR-V Hybrid will be available with two- and four-wheel drive options. Power is rated at 184hp with torque at 315Nm, and all models will come with an automatic gearbox.
The lithium-ion battery for the hybrid system is stored in the boot beneath the floor, reducing luggage capcity down from 561 litres in the regular five-seat CR-V to 497 litres.
How much does the Honda CR-V Hybrid cost in BIK tax?
Honda claims the CR-V achieves 53.3mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 120g/km in two-wheel drive format, under the more-stringent WLTP testing system.
Tick the all-wheel drive option and you’ll see the CO2 emissions rise to 126g/km and fuel economy figures drop to 51.4mpg.
This equates to a BIK tax band of 25% and 26% respectively, based on 2018/19 rates – creeping up to 27% and 28% in 2019/20.
The P11D values are yet to be released ahead its 2019 arrival, but with a rough estimate based on the RRP figures, the most affordable Honda CR-V Hybrid will cost around £118 per month in BIK for a 20% taxpayer.

There will be three drive modes to select from, each with a varying degree of electric and engine power to propel this SUV: EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive.
The CR-V Hybrid will automatically transition between these modes depending on the driven road and environment. EV Drive and Hybrid mode are optimised for low-speed urban driving, while Engine Drive is best used for motorway cruising speeds.
Honda CR-V Hybrid specs: five-seater only
You can have the CR-V Hybrid in the same S, SE, SR and EX trim levels as the petrol variant, but only as a five-seater. Choosing between two- or four-wheel drive may also define which model is for you, as the S model is two-wheel drive only and EX is limited to four-wheel drive.
Standard driver-assistance tech includes lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and forward collision warning.
All models come with parking sensors, a rear-view camera, climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights.
