Peugeot 308 CC (2009-2014) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
There’s no especially frugal model in the 308 CC line-up, although the more powerful 2.0-litre HDi engine is useful with an average economy figure of 48mpg – not bad considering its strong performance. The e-HDI is cheapest tor run with fuel economy at 60mpg. Peugeot servicing is good value but its dealers have a less than glowing reputation for customer care and it usually fares very badly in owner satisfaction surveys.
Insurance starts at group 11 for most models with GT models in group 14.
The 308 CC is fairly unspectacular when it comes to green issues. The petrol engines aren’t very frugal with the 1.6-litre THP 140 returning just 35mpg and emitting 192g/km of CO2. The diesels are better and CO2 outputs are lower with the 1.6-litre HDi emitting 138g/km while the 2.0-litre HDi puts out 155g/km of CO2 and averages 48mpg. The best in the line-up is the e-HDi that’ll emit 123g/km of CO2.
Peugeot doesn’t have an immaculate reputation for reliability, but it’s newer models are a vast improvement. There have been a few recalls for the 308 though and electrical problems – even on newer Peugeot models – aren’t unheard of. Checking that the roof works correctly is essential.
