What is miles per pound?

Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 34 - 68 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The seven-seater SW is only available as a non-cost option on the Active and Allure trims. The Allure models aren’t cheap, but they do come very well equipped. Weight saving measures and new power units allow most versions of the SW to offer improved fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions compared to the 307 SW. Like the rest of the range the e-HDi has the best fuel economy.

The 308 SW is a fairly clean model. That’s helped by the fact there are two diesel engines in the range as diesels usually emit less CO2 and use less fuel than an equivalent petrol engine. Fuel economy is good too with an average figure of 44mpg – the best model is the 1.6-litre eHDi that return in excess of 70mpg with CO2 emissions of 98g/km.

Peugeot has been working to improve reliability and early indications with new products show things are getting better. But we wouldn’t be surprised to find owners with occasional or minor problems on the 308. There have already been a few recalls.
