How is the quality and layout?

Peugeot has really lifted its car interiors in recent years and the e-3008 is possibly its best yet. It’s the first model from the French firm to get its new Panoramic i-Cockpit display, which we’ll explore more on in later sections, and helps to modernise the interior.

The two screens are curved around the driver, and it’s a similar look and feel to what we’ve seen from various manufacturers, including BMW and its Curved Display system. The material quality is also generally excellent, with a new recycled wool-like material used across the dashboard and door cards. It’s similar to what we’ve seen on the new Mini Countryman and is a great alternative to usual soft-touch plastics or leather.

There are a few ever-so-slight issues, one being that the heated seat controls are well-nestled in the touchscreen and can be difficult to operate. Also, the gloss black buttons that run along the brilliantly sculpted centre console for the windscreen demister can feel quite cheap in contrast to the rest of the interior.

Infotainment and tech

As we’ve mentioned, the e-3008 is the first Peugeot to get the latest iteration of its i-Cockpit. Previously, the main infotainment screen and digital dial display were separated, but now they’re merged together in a brilliant 21-inch HD display that curves around the driver’s field of view.

It carries over aspects from Peugeot’s new 308 and 408, however, including customisable i-Toggles, essentially digital shortcut keys that can be configured to suit your most-used features, such as calling a certain person or playing your favourite radio station.

We’re alsot intrigued to hear that the new Peugeot e-3008 will ‘benefit’ from the addition of AI-system ChatGPT as a driver-assistance tool. It will be embedded into the onboard ‘Hey Peugeot’ voice assistance, allowing further ability to answer questions and bring various navigation benefits. We’ll see how that goes.

Finally, there’s a new design for Peugeot’s small steering wheel with gloss black buttons for the infotainment and dashboard. Sadly, these aren’t the most ergonomically-designed and can feel a bit cheap to press.

Comfort

  • High-quality seats offer great support
  • Massage and electric functions available
  • Driving position is much-improved

Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design, which previously featured a combination of a small steering wheel and digital instrument cluster positioned above you, didn’t suit all drivers, especially taller folk who often found the top of the steering wheel getting in the way of the main dials. Peugeot’s new setup is a big improvement in this respect, with displays that are no longer restricted by the position of the steering wheel.

While ride comfort is not so good – we’ll explore this in a separate section – the seats in the 3008 are excellent, offering plenty in the way of support. Optional leather seats are also heated, ventilated and even massaging, though are far from cheap, and you won’t recoup that outlay when you’ve finished with the car.
