Volkswagen T-Roc SUV R-Line 1.5 TSI Evo 150PS 5d Owner Review

R-Line 1.5 TSI Evo 150PS 5d
Volkswagen T-Roc review (2022)

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I love my T-Roc - it drives well and is economical and it looks good too. It is overpriced though if you want all the extras and the inside is not quite premium enough to match the price tag - hard plastics throughout. Having said that I love the brand (more fool me) so don't mind paying a bit more for a VW and I love the digital cockpit especially at night. Paid extra for the Beats sound system but wouldnt bother next time - the audio may be loud and the bass deep BUT the trim cant cope with it so you end up with a lot of vibration / rattling and distortion if you really want to play something loud - not cool. My car came with park assist which I have to confess I have never used, adaptive cruise control - never used that either, and a panoramic sunroof which I could take or leave. Lane assist is good and the blind spot system I now wouldn't live without. All in all the car still makes me smile after 2 years ownership which is a glowing endorsement - I prefer it to the Scirocco I earned before and Golfs before that. Great service from Beadles Sevenoaks where I bought the car - helpful, laid back with no hard sell and my local Martins VW Basingstoke where I have had the car serviced, I would rate VW dealerships highly in my experience, even during Covid. If you're considering a T-Roc I would say go for it but dont be tempted to load up a new car with options you dont really need. Never driven the smaller 1.0 engine so cant comment on that, but for me the 1.5 Petrol is perfect.

How reliable do you find the car?

Does seem to suffer like almost every VW I have owned from annoying trim rattles

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Main plus with the 1.5 TSI engine is its very economical and I have achieved over 50mpg on motorway runs to work - 30 miles approx. That's on eco setting and watching how I drive. Normal average is 39-43 MPG I would say which I still rate highly
