Volvo S90 (2016 - 2023) R-Design D4 auto 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Iv'e had 7 or 8 volvos S60, V60, S80 and S90. The first S90 was a Momentum D4 and although the basic model, it was well equipped with pilot assist, lane departure and adaptive cruise. As I do around 35000 miles per year so car changes are quite regular. The BMW 520d and Audi A6 2LTDI are marginally better than the S90 but the S90 is better value.
The current S90 D4 R drives very well especially on A roads and is quiet, but not so at low speeds when the engine can be heard. This is not helped by the 8 speed auto box in low gear which tends to hang until you get going. Not a patch on BMW. The D4 engine has plenty get up and go so overtaking is easy.
A word on Pilot Assist. Its not infallible! Can get confused at junctions which can be alarming. Its a gimmick in my view. Seats are very comfortable with good side support and adjustable front swab. Its not a sports car even with R design badge but has less roll in corners if you want to push it.
One extra which is excellent in winter is the winter pack. Heated windscreen and steering wheel are tops. Also heated screen washers and headlamp washers. All models have heated seats. All in all a good looking car and will probably have another one.
How reliable do you find the car?
Engine oil overfill alarm sorted under warranty. Second S90 with same issue. This after about 12000 miles and no I didn't add any oil.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
18" wheels don't seem to affect ride as much as I thought they would. It comes with pdc front and rear whereas the Momentum has only rear. Seats are very good but not fully electric and no memory function.About their car
