Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 23 - 53 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Used values are weaker than those of the BMW 5-Series, but Audi often offers new customers cut-price upgrades, such as switching from SE to S Line at a reduced rate and so on, which helps ensure well equipped cars are on the used market. Diesels are exceptionally frugal.

When the A6 was facelifted in October 2008, Audi launched a new ‘e’ model. Powered by a 2.0 TDI engine it uses gearbox modifications, aerodynamic tweaks and a lower ride height to lower emissions and boost economy. As a result it emits 139g/km of CO2 – low for a car of this size, while returning a healthy 53mpg. It’s still good to drove though with plenty of in-gear pace.

The Audi A6 has above average reliability, and Audi dealers offer excellent service when owners encounter problems.
