Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 21 - 39 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The 6-Series Convertible costs upwards of £50,000 and is several thousand pounds more than the Coupe – a premium which shrinks on the used market. Insurance is either group 19 or 20, although resale values are decent – an owner could expect to retain half the car’s value after three years from new. BMW also offers fixed cost servicing, or service and maintenance packages, when ordering the car to help keep running costs down.

Engines offer decent fuel consumption considering their size and power outputs.

In October 2007 BMW introduced Efficient Dynamics to the 6-Series range and emissions and economy improved as a result. The greenest model is the 635d which emits 190g/km of CO2 and is capable of 39mpg.

Reliability is very good and problems with modern BMWs are relatively few and far between.
