Should you buy one?

Yes. BMW has thrown all it can at the new 7-series in order to be a true competitor to the Mercedes S-Class and attract you away from what is usually considered the norm for an executive limo. And to say it has succeeded is an understatement – as a thing to sit in, to be driven in and to pilot yourself, it’s an absolute triumph.

Its front-end styling may put some off, but it could also attract others for its boldness. But what really sets the 7-series apart is the impressive build quality of its interior and the technology available to the buyer. It’s also way more fun to drive than it has any right to be, and the hybrid system is so good, it’s impressively economical whether you have topped it up or not.

We’re now looking forward to see this technology filter down to the smaller models in the BMW range.
