The Volkswagen Passat is now even greener with the launch of the Bluemotion 2 model. It emits less CO2 and has improved fuel economy.

The previous Passat Bluemotion used a 1.9-litre TDI 105 engine emitting just 136 g/km of CO2 and achieving 55.4 mpg.

Volkswagen has replaced this with a greener 2.0-litre diesel engine, dropping emissions to 128 g/km and increasing economy to 57.6 mpg.

The Passat Bluemotion 2 still sits in the same CO2 band (band C) as the previous model so it’s not cheaper to tax, but improved fuel economy means you could save on fuel.

The stop/start system

This is helped with the use of an automatic stop/start system. This stops the engine whenever the car is stationary, then starts it up immediately when the driver needs to move off again. It saves the fuel otherwise wasted keeping the engine ticking over unnecessarily.

The Passat also comes with an impressive amount of equipment as standard, including alloy wheels, six airbags, ABS, air con and cruise control.

Model Saloon Estate

Bluemotion 2 £17,700 £18,835

The new Passat Bluemotion 2 is now available for order, and prices start at £17,700 for the saloon, and £18,835 for the estate.
