Citroen has announced that the DS3 Racing prices will start at £23,100 and orders can be placed from September 1, 2010.

The car has been developed by Citroën Racing - (the team behind five World Rally Championship Manufacturer's titles and six Driver's titles for Sébastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena).

Powering the DS3 racing is a specially tuned 1.6-litre THP engine producing 204bhp and has a pulling power of 275Nm. This translates into a 0-62mph time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 146mph.

It's available in two colours, one with a black body and an orange roof while the other features a white body with a carbon grey roof. The colours are matched to the alloy wheels, door mirrors, grille surround, tailgate spoiler and dashboard fascia.

Standard equipment includes automatic digital aircon, Bluetooth with USB connectivity and an eight-speaker sound system, S.ESP (Switchable Electronic Stability Programme).

The DS3 Racing adds motorsport inspired features, including carbon fibre components such as the rear diffuser, front bumper, side rubbing strips and wheel arch extensions. The interior has received the same treatment with the extensive use of carbon fibre on the centre console, steering wheel and door inserts.

The chassis has been tweaked by Citroen Racing with the engineers have fitting new dampers, widening the front and rear tracks by 30mm, lowering the ride height by 15mm and upgrading the brakes with four-pot callipers and revised discs at the front.

Citroen has confirmed that 200 right-hand drive cars will come to the UK and strong demand is already evident with more than 1,500 enquiries made through Citroen's UK website.
