This close relative of the higher-priced previous-generation Volvo S40 lacks the Volvo's status. Image aside, Carisma is a user-friendly family car, although neither its styling nor its performance are remarkable.

Parkers Rating:

2 out of 5

This close relative of the higher-priced previous-generation Volvo S40 lacks the Volvo's status. Image aside, Carisma is a user-friendly family car, although neither its styling nor its performance are remarkable. Its redeeming qualities are competitive prices, generous specs and above-average reliability. Running costs are also very reasonable.

What owners say...

Lot of space and very economical to run(common rail diesel).

Everything - its economical (40 to 48mpg) and easy to drive. Comfy (with wipe-clean leather seats) and will relax cruising on the motorway for hours.

It is a good sized car with lots of room, with lots of kit for the price. This is one of those anoying car's that could have been a real success, but is let down by lack of development.
