Chrysler has staked a claim as provider of the best value saloons in the UK with price cuts on its 2010 300C range.
The revised line-up now starts at £23,995 on the road – more than £4000 cheaper than the 2009 version of the car, and less than a range-topping diesel Vauxhall Insignia.
Equipment grades are now split with SE as the entry level car, SR as a medium spec model and SRT as a high-spec version with sports styling, all of which some with the Mercedes-Benz sourced 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and automatic transmission.
The SE version comes with leather seats, electronic stability control, six airbags, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, LED ambient lighting, front fog lamps, parking sensors, xenon headlamps and rain-sensing windscreen wipers are also standard along with 18-inch alloy wheels.
SR models are £24,995 and add satellite navigation, upgraded audio and integrated Bluetooth. Options include a sunroof and heated rear seats.
SRT models use a wire mesh grill and come with 20-inch wheels, wheel arch extensions, leather and suede sports seats and carbon fibre interior trim parts.
The diesel engine produces 215bhp as well as 376lb-ft of torque at 1600rpm. It will accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds, with a maximum speed of 143mph.
CO2 emissions of 215g/km put the car in the 31 per cent bracket for benefit-in-kind tax for the current tax year, rising by one per cent until reaching 34 per cent for 2012-13.
The range-topping SRT-8 model uses a 6.1-litre V8 petrol engine producing 425bhp and is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in five seconds. This model has seen a modest price increase for the 2010 model year at £41,795 and comes with sports-tuned steering and suspension.
