Ford has announced new and improved versions of the diesel engines in the Mondeo and Kuga.
The four-wheel drive Kuga gains a new 163bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine which in manual transmission guise now emits 159g/km - 6% lower than the previous 136bhp engine. The new engine is also available with the semi-automatic Powershift gearbox which results in CO2 emissions of 179g/km.
In the Mondeo range, the two existing 2.0 TDCi diesels in 115 and 140bhp outputs have been uprated. Both emit 139g/km, putting them in the 16% benefit-in-kind tax band from this April.
The 2.0 TDCi engine with 163bhp also finds its way into the Mondeo, offering fuel economy of 53.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
Prices will be announced when the cars go on sale next month.
