Toyota has revised the Yaris with a new engine and stop-start technology that offers more power than before but lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
While 1.0-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesels remain the same, the new 100bhp 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i engine adopting Toyota's Optimal Drive technology replaces the 87bhp 1.3-litre and reduces CO2 ouput by up to 21g/km.
The result is CO2 emissions of 120g/km for the standard manual tranmission and 119g/km for the automated manual MMT version.
Fuel consumption is also improved to 55.6mpg on the combined cycle - almost as high as the 56.5mpg achieved by the 67bhp 1.0-litre petrol model and giving the Yaris a significant advantage over many rival small cars.
Most Yaris customers choose TR specification and for 2010 this grade has been revised to include new design 15-inch alloy wheels, integrated front foglights, darkened headlamp glass and matt silver finish door handles.
Inside, changes include new cloth trim, analogue instruments and on 1.33-litre and 1.4 D-4D models perforated leather steering wheel and gear knob.
The Yaris range starts at £10,256 on the road for the three-door 1.0 T2 model, rising to £14,129 on the road for the five-door 1.4 D-4D TR with multi-mode transmission.
