Volkswagen's new Touareg 4x4 will cost from £38,255 when deliveries begin in the UK in October.
The new model, which is available to order now, is offered with a choice of two diesel engines and a petrol/electric hybrid.
The entry-level diesel is a 3.0-litre V6 unit delivering 240bhp. This engine returns claimed economy of 38.2mpg while CO2 emissions are 195g/km, putting it in the 31% benefit-in-kind tax band.
Volkswagen is also offering a 4.2-litre V8 diesel for the first time in the Touareg, producing 340bhp, returning 31mpg and emitting 239g/km of CO2. The V8 TDI sits in the maximum 35% BIK band. The 4.2 V8 TDI costs £56,530.
Also new to the range is a petrol/electric Hybrid model, sharing its drivetrain with the new Porsche Cayenne Hybrid. The Touareg Hybrid uses a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and an electric motor to produce 380bhp. Fuel economy is a claimed 34mpg while CO2 emissions are 193g/km. The Hybrid costs a whisker under £55,000.
