Vauxhall has widened the diesel choice in its new Meriva range with two new engines.
On sale now, the 1.3-litre CDTi diesel engine delivers 95bhp and carries the Ecoflex badging, meaning it is the lowest emission model in the range. That means it sits in the 13% BIK band rather than the 18% band which is where the current 1.3 CDTi sits.
A company car driver who is a 20% tax payer would pay about £50 a month for the current 1.3-litre diesel where as the new Eco model would only cost about £35 a month - that's a useful saving.
Vauxhall claims average fuel economy of nearly 63mpg, which compares to the current 1.3-litre diesel's 57mpg - again it is a useful saving on fuel costs.
Also new is a 130bhp 1.7-litre diesel with economy of 54mpg and CO2 of 138g/km, placing it in the 19% band for company car tax.
The new engines join the existing 1.3 CDTi 75 and 1.7 CDTi 100bhp diesels, as well as the 1.4-litre turbo petrol.
Prices for a Meriva diesel start at £16,875 and are on sale now.
