Vauxhall's Corsa Ecoflex is the first model from the manufacturer to feature start-stop technology which results in lower emissions.

On sale now, the Ecoflex Start/Stop models reduce CO2 emissions by 9g/km over the non-Start/Stop Ecoflex models, while fuel economy rises by 5mpg. As a result, the Start/Stop Corsa returns average economy of 70mpg and emits 109g/km of CO2.

This results in the Corsa sitting in the lowest 13% diesel company car tax band, while it is exempt from the first year VED rates.

Available in all trim levels from S to SXi, the Ecoflex Start/Stop models cost £260 more than standard Ecoflex versions, with prices starting at £13,195.

As well as lower emissions, Vauxhall has concentrated on beefing-up some components to ensure they last. An enhanced starter motor is used, along with a high performance battery and Electric Power Management system, for efficient re-starts. An additional water pump keeps the cabin warm in cool weather during the stop phase, and owners have the ability to turn off Start/Stop completely via a dashboard button.

Drivers can even select the level of air conditioning in the cabin while the engine is temporarily turned off. Using technology unique in the industry, drivers can configure the ventilation system to remain off when the engine's in stop mode, or can pre-set the engine and air conditioning to start when the in-cabin temperature reaches a given point.
