What is miles per pound?

This is not a car to buy if you’re worried about running costs. Fuel economy is woeful, insurance is high and servicing is not only frequent but expensive too. And when it comes to replacing those tyres be prepared for an eye-watering bill.

No official fuel economy or CO2 figures are available for the Ram SRT-10 but the same engine is available in the SRT-10 (or the Viper as it’s known in the USA). In the two-seater sports car it emits a whopping 489g/km of CO2 and will only return 23mpg.

The Dodge Ram comes with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty, but has relatively short service intervals (6000 miles). The big V10 engine should be unstressed most of the time and there are few complicated electronics on board to go wrong.
