Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 56 - 72 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

  • Diesel will be best option for running costs
  • Stick to 17-inch wheels for the best fuel economy

The best performing engine for DS 4 Crossback running costs is the 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel when coupled with a manual gearbox. On the official cycle this engine offers a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg (on 17-inch wheels) and CO2 emissions of 100g/km.

DS 4 Crossback CO2 emissions are not class-leading but still competitive. For the maximum in low CO2 you’ll need to opt for the 1.6-litre diesel with the six-speed manual gearbox which emits 100g/km.

There haven’t been any major recalls of Citroen brand cars for a while now so we expect DS 4 Crossback reliability to be very good. The extra ground clearance plus the protective skid-plates should enable the car to cope well with muddy roads and light snow, couple that with a good quality interior and the Crossback is well equipped to deal with most of what everyday family life has to throw at it.
