Overview

The estate version of the Mercedes E-Class majors on load carrying ability and comfort. It shares the same long distance smoothness of the saloon, but adds a huge boot space of almost 2,000 litres in total – considerably more than alternatives from BMW or Audi. It’s well built too with a luxurious cabin, which although not especially modern, does have a sophisticated feel.

There were some electrical issue on early models, but these were soon ironed out and later cars are extremely durable and reliable. Revisions in 2006 promises an end to any remaining electrical problems and add yet more technology, mainly for safety, as well as new engines.
