Renault has an excellent record for crash safety and has scored well in official independent crash tests with most of its range. The standard Laguna (on which the Laguna Coupe is based) scored the maximum five stars for adult occupant safety in Euro NCAP crash tests. Eight airbags are standard on all models as well as stability control.

The Laguna Coupé has quite a small boot opening with a high load lip, but there is space for a couple of small suitcases (423 litres with the rear seats in place) and a set of golf clubs will fit in (at an angle). The rear seats also fold easily to increase space for occasional larger or bulky items. There is a central stowage area between the front seats and the glove compartment is a useful size.
