What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 49 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Gives around 49 mpg. Because of what it is, insurance is quite steep: group 8, as opposed to group 4 for the standard City Coupe. Tiny 600cc engine falls well below the reduced road tax threshold.
Reliability should be excellent, very few problems have been reported with the Smart products. Everything that’s exposed to the elements has been waterproofed.
