Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 34 - 45 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Services are spaced 20,000 miles apart. Insurance is cheap, fuel economy good (except on the 1.8). Spares are pricey though and some dealers’ labour rates can be quite high. Depreciation is average for the class.

Toyota’s reputation is built on longevity – we’ve certainly heard of no problems from owners about this model. Interior trim is good quality, but doesn’t quite match the Ford Focus C-MAX or VW Touran.
