What is miles per pound?

Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 36 - 45 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

A major service is only needed every 20,000 miles (though a quick check is needed every 10,000 miles) while fuel consumption is good for all engines and Toyota claims improved repair costs. Depreciation shouldn’t be a major concern and insurance should be low too. The 2.2-litre diesel engine is only slightly less economical than the 2.0-litre it replaces, while the high-power 175bhp version still achieves more than 40mpg.

The Corolla Verso is a fairly green people carrier and with an average of 177 g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are acceptable for a compact people carrier. The greenest model is the 2.2 D-4D with 136bhp which emits 164g/km of CO2 and will average 46mpg.

Like any Toyota the Corolla Verso will be superbly reliable, The interior is robust and well finished and reported problems with Toyota’s are rare while the dealer service is excellent.
