Honda has moved up a gear with the 2008 Accord and is aiming squarely at buyers at the lower end of the Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series ranges. Although it looks similar to the previous Accord, it's an entirely new design, with a fresh interior and upgraded engines. It's good to drive with sharp steering and little body roll in corners while the interior is superbly built with high grade materials and a top quality finish. There are downsides however, there's no hatch version - it's only available as a saloon or estate - and the boot isn't particularly big or easy to access. It's not as spacious inside as some rivals either, especially in terms of rear passenger space. On the plus side it's available with Honda's excellent i-DTEC engine - one of the best diesels on the market, plus it's as reliable and durable as you'd expect a Honda to be.
