Vauxhall Movano dimensions (2010-on)

The Vauxhall Movano offers a wide range of body variants, with a line-up that includes panel vans available in four lengths and three roof heights, a double cab option, platform cabs, chassis cabs, crew cabs, and full passenger-carrying variants including minibus models.

Here we're concentrating on the panel vans.

Front-wheel-drive (FWD) models have lower loading sill heights for easier access to the cargo area, while rear-wheel drive (RWD) models are better-suited to consistently heavy duty work.

The sliding side and twin rear doors have wide openings. In fact, the standard side door (everything but L1 models) is wide enough to allow a Euro pallet to be loaded sideways.

The wheel arches are relatively unobtrusive, while the straight body sides are intended to make transporting larger and bulky objects easier.

With load volume ranging from 8.0 cubic metres to 17.0 cubic metres this is certainly a practical hauler.

At the time of writing (September 2019), the Movano offers the highest payload rating of any large van up to the 3.5-tonne (3,500kg) maximum gross vehicle weight you can drive on a regular car licence.

So if you need to shift a lot of weight, this is an excellent choice of van for you.

The Movano is available in four gross vehicle weight (GVW) options:

• 2.8 tonnes (2,800kg)
• 3.3 tonnes (3,300kg)
• 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg)
• 4.5 tonnes (4,,500kg)

The GVW dictates the total weight of the van including everything on board (such as people), so it's important to get the right version to meet your needs.

The Movano's maximum payload at the critical 3.5t point is 1,620kg - but note that this applies to the smallest L1H1 variant, which means it doesn't have a huge amount of load volume or space to actually put stuff in the back.

Note that these are maximum figures; some engine options offer lower payload ratings, and the increased amounts of fitted equipment will also reduce the amount of load you can legally carry.

Spec-for-spec, a front-wheel drive Movano will have a higher payload and a larger load area.

Vauxhall Movano towing capacity

Depending on version, the Movano has a braked towing capacity of between 2,500kg and 3,000kg - or 2.5 to 3.0 tonnes.

Rear-wheel drive models can be upgraded to tow 3,500kg (3.5 tonnes) with a heavy duty twin-wheel rear axle option.

Unbraked towing capacity is 750kg.
