Scored a better than average three stars out of a possible four in the Euro NCAP ratings. Driver airbags are standard across the majority of the range except for the 1.0L hatches. ABS is always optional, along with passenger airbags. Minimal protection from the VW factory. Just an engine immobiliser, although the Tracker system is a dealer supplied option.

There are big door bins and a centre console, but you have to give up the passenger glovebox if an airbag is fitted. Decent size to the load area.
