The all-new Vauxhall Vivaro has been unveiled alongside some initial details and pictures of how it looks.

Stand out design

The design is striking certainly with the Luton firm believing it conveys elegance, robustness and sculptural artistry, though some may say it isn’t the most attractive vehicle on the road.

However, Vauxhall is confident the new Vivaro is the ideal mobile business card thanks to its modern and elegant exterior.

Two variants to choose from

There will be two variants to choose from: Vivaro and Sportive. The Vivaro is aimed at buyers who need a strong, robust van, so this more utilitarian version will feature a front bumper, grille, side mirror housings and vertical rear mouldings in a black textured plastic.

The Sportive version will apply to the Combi version and rather than the black plastic the Vivaro version gets, the plastic material will match the van’s colour rather than being black.

Different bodystyles, lengths and roof heights

As with the current Vivaro there will be different versions to suit different customer needs. There are two overall lengths to choose from, two roof heights and there will be a panel van, double cab and Combi versions to choose from.

The new version is longer than the current one in both cases with the 4,998 and 5,398 mm versions some 216 mm longer than the outgoing model.

Two diesel engines to choose from

Vauxhall will be offering two diesel engines to start with, the 1.6-litre CDTi and the 1.6-litre BiTurbo CDTi diesels. The BiTurbo version in particular is thought to offer high levels of performance with strong fuel consumption figures claimed to be around an average of 47mpg.

Vauxhall is also planning on offering a range of conversions based on the Vivaro to help meet the needs of specific professional customers through its vehicle conversion centre.

It is also expected that the cab will provide more car-like levels of technological and comfort, plus more room for driver and passengers.

Details on prices, exact body styles and equipment levels are likely to be announced around the time of the CV show in Birmingham in late April.
