Renault has released this moody design sketch to give a few clues as to what the all-new Renault Trafic van will look like when it goes on sale this summer.

Its design cues echo those of Renault’s latest car models, with headlights joining up with the large front grille and a supersized version of the Renault diamond emblem in the centre of the bonnet.

This will be the third-generation version of the Trafic, a model which has recorded more than 1.6 million sales since the launch of the original model 34 years ago. The current Trafic has been around since 2001 and it’s high time for an update.

The new Trafic will share its platform with the new Vauxhall Vivaro, also due to be launched this year.

Further details are scarce for now but we can expect improved fuel efficiency and running costs over the current Trafic and Vivaro as well as Renault’s latest generation of infotainment and connectivity technology in the cabin.

We’ll have to wait and see if it will be available with the same racy looking alloy wheels in the sketch.
