Affordability and reliability. They are two the values that underpin this week’s Parkers van deal. Of course, we are talking about the Ford Transit, which for 50 years has been a cost-effective and dependable business partner to millions of British tradespeople and delivery companies.

Reliable engine with decent fuel economy

Under the bonnet is Ford’s 2.2-litre diesel engine, which also features in the new Custom and 2t Transits. The selected model is 99bhp rated version, which generates 310Nm of torque and should achieve around 32.5mpg on the combined cycle.

It’s a respected and reliable engine that has featured in the Transit, Peugeot Boxer and Citroen Relay for almost 10 years. The Ford Transit is also easy to drive, with good driver visibility, light controls and a gear lever mounted on the dash, close to the wheel.

Compromised load space

The front wheel drive format means there is an increased, but still modest, payload of 940kg. It’s worth remembering that the Ford Transit is the heaviest van on the market, partly because it is also the biggest.

The load space height stands at 1,866mm, and the length and width at 3,044mm and 1,784mm respectively. This results in a load volume of 10 cubic metres.

Summary

At £14,712 plus VAT, this Ford Transit MWB Medium Roof FWD is not only reliable and practical, but it’s also affordable. You can never go too wrong with a Transit; after all, it’s the best-selling commercial vehicle in the UK of all time. Look at Parkers Vans For Sale for more information.
